We are biased, of course, but the Retreat is a magic place. The terraces date back a thousand years, to the time when Spain was ruled by the Moors, and are planted largely with almond, olive and orange trees. The views from the retreat over the terraces to Parcent, and the rugged mountains which surround this end of the valley, are unforgettably breathtaking. The mountains and surrounding villages are fascinating to explore. The Retreat is an idyllic, magical and beautiful place for relaxing.
There is a spacious pool terrace and shady courtyard and its walled garden, a tennis court, swimming pool or you can wander of on to the ancient terraces for quiet contemplation time or just to soak up the spiritually uplifting scenery, also there is a river which runs through the grounds of the Retreat (normally dry).
All linen is provided, the Retreat has a fully equipped kitchen for you to use, a pool and tennis court. It is situated in the rustic countryside but is only a short walk from the Spanish Villages of Parcent and Alcalali. Bank machines, restaurant, shops and Tapas bars in each village along with Famacia (Chemist)
About Parcent
Parcent is a small Spanish village in the Val de Pop. Parcent has a population of about 1100. It features the small but beautiful Holy Virgin church, and is surrounded by rolling hills and mountains. Writer Gabriel Miró (1879-1930) was a resident of Parcent and called it a "paradise between the mountains". It is also close to Jalon (written as Xaló in Catalan), which is famous for its excellent wine production and markets. The traditional economy of Parcent relies on almond and orange farming in the surrounding area. The name "Parcent" is of Latin origin. Later, it was a Moorish town until the forces of James I of Aragon conquered it in 1256 CE.
About Alcalali
Alcalali on the Costa Blanca in Spain is situated in the Val de Pop. Alcalali was originally a Moorish village. Evidence of that can still be found in the traditional almond and orange fields and the drying houses. The Moors were expelled from Alcalali in the year of 1609. The main occupation for the habitants of Alcalali is agriculture. The area gets its irrigation from the Girona river. Framed within the beautiful full landscapes of the colourful almond trees, that in February,dye the landscape in a wonderful white and pink colour, orange trees and vines. Located in the heart of the valley, half of way between Jalon and Parcent.
Your Mind Body and Soul Retreat
Located in the south east of Spain, in the La Val de Laugar. It sits on terraced land surrounded by cherry and almond trees with amazing views back to the sea some 20km away. Perfect for your retreat, a chance to rest and spiritually rejuvenate and go walking in the hills. There are some fascinating walks like the "Barranc del Infern" or Hells gorge, a closed circuit of some 14Km which takes in 5,946 steps carved into the sides of the valley. Ideal for hiking
A self built natural wooden building hexagonal in shape, 31m2 with a bathroom. For up to 4 people to sleep on comfortable but simple mattress beds. There is a kitchen area with double sink with hot water and a 2 burner cooker. Pots, pans, plates and cutlery. Table and chairs. Gas heater. Bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. Abundant hot water. It also has a good big deck outside of another 18m2 and a BBQ area. Also you have access to the swimming pool of the main house.
Also you will have the use of a similarly natural wooden building for your mediation session and yoga class. There will also be spiritual development workshops for you in the late morning then after lunch you are welcome to soak up the breath taking spiritually up lifting surroundings or take in a holistic therapy form the list on the therapies page.
Just relax and heal you mind body and soul on the specially chosen retreat to take you back to mother nature for you to block out the modern stressful world we are all too used to.
About La Val de Laguar
It means "place of many springs" and refers to the region made up of three villages; Campell (Poble de Baix), Fleix (Poble d’Enmig) and Benimaurell (Poble de Dalt) as well as including the Sanatorio San Antonio de Borja de Fontilles. The area lies within Marina Alta in the north of the province of Alicante and is some 500m above sea level. It has a typical Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot summers, softened by the influence of the sea some 15-20km away. One can see not only the coast but also on clear days away to Ibiza. Although close to the coast it is a long way from the noise and crowds, closer to nature and peace and quite. One of the best walk in the area, the "Barranc del Infern" or Hells gorge is the official walk PR V-147, considered the cathedral of all walks! Between Fleix and Benimaurell it is a closed circuit of some 14Km which takes in 5,946 steps, 3,343 up and 2,603 down, with an accumulated height of 1,690m. It is considered of medium difficulty within the walking world. Sanatorio de Fontilles: The 100 year’s old leper colony is noted for its agreeable setting amidst woods, parks, gardens and fresh springs. The old wall to keep residents separate from the locals can be seen crawling up and down the surrounding hills. It is essentially a small agricultural community dedicated to cultivating almonds, olives, figs, algarrobos, oranges and above all cherries. Due to the different harvest time enables these products to support the population through out the year. About 1,000 people live in Laguar Valley.
